DC Reads brings 10-15 trained tutors to LPTM each day. Tutors work one-on-one with our Apprentices to help develop their reading comprehension, phonics and math skills. Assessments show that Apprentices come to LPTM behind in reading skills. The goal is to get them on target for their grade level. Learn more

Life Pieces To Masterpieces is partnered with DC Scholars to deliver high quality after-school programming. DC Scholars Public Charter School prepares students to attend and succeed academically in high school and college, and DC Scholars provides students with a foundation of life skills required to become productive members of their communities. Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys

Life Pieces To Masterpieces is partnered with Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys to deliver high quality character enrichment programming. The Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys is an Episcopal School for children of low-income families. We nurture the spiritual, intellectual, social, physical and artistic development of our students in a Christian community of learners that welcomes boys of all faith traditions. Learn more

Education Pioneers

Life Pieces To Masterpieces has benefitted from Education Pioneers fellows who have been assigned to projects that are critical to the core of the mission: strategic business planning, business planning for Corporate Art, human resources consultation. Education Pioneers fellows have gone on to become junior board members and Saturday Academy mentors, broadening their relationship with LPTM, demonstrating a deep commitment to the work. Learn more

The George Washington University Nashman Center

George Washington University’s Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service has been a partner of Life Pieces to Masterpieces through engageDC since 2010. The engageDC program seeks to connect students with long-term service opportunities in the greater D.C. area. Our partnership brings in students with an interest in youth serving education, putting to use their skills in the classroom while offering new skills in nonprofit management and education programming. Our engageDC partners also work to connect LPTM to the vast resources and opportunities in GWU, which include campus space, service learning courses, and professional development and networking opportunities. Maya Angelou Public Charter School

High school students come each semester as part of their community service work to learn about the LPTM curriculum and help in the classroom as role models from the community. Learn more

Washington & Lee University Shepherd Internship Program

A national organization that matches two college interns each year with LPTM for eight weeks. Students help with administrative and program and teacher assistance. Learn more

ARCH Development Corporation

ARCH creates a home for small businesses, artists, arts and cultural organizations to fulfill their commitment to the revitalization and sustainable economic development of Historic Anacostia. ADC operates a residency program for both domestic and foreign artists and houses some of LPTM’s young artists.
